Our Autumn term starts w/c 29th April 2024. All classes are currently run on Zoom.
The British Omani Society runs Arabic Classes in our Sackville Street offices and online. Our classes, which are designed for a variety of abilities, from total beginner to confident conversationalist, have won high plaudits from participants.
Courses run for 10 weeks and consist of 2 hour classes. Any material (courses roughly follow the Gateway to Arabic books) required for the course will be provided via email PDF. However, we recommend students purchase the Gateway to Arabic books if they are able to. There is no requirement for how much work students do between lessons, but we highly recommend putting some time aside each week to revise vocabulary, spelling and grammar etc. The more work you put into your studies, the more you'll get out of the course.
For the next term we will be running the following courses:
Beginner 2: students are somewhat familiar with the alphabet, know some basic words and key phrases, can introduce themselves. Click here to view our syllabus.
Beginner 3: students are more comfortable with the alphabet, have some vocabulary (beyond basic vocab used to introduce oneself), have some knowledge of present tense verbs conjucation (I, you, he/she, we) and possessive endings. Click here to view our syllabus.

Advanced: Students can confidently hold conversations about a variety of topics in Arabic. Some students have degrees in Arabic, but the level is quite mixed. Click here to view our syllabus.

Pre-Intermediate 4: Students are confident with verb conjugations. Some students can hold basic conversations in Arabic. Click here to view our syllabus.
