'Oman Through My Eyes' Exhibition

BOS

February 22 2017

The British Omani Society recently hosted a photographic exhibition by Anas Mohammed Al Dheeb Boamer, an award-winning photographer from the Sultanate of Oman.

Born in Salalah, in the province of Dhofar, Anas is passionate about capturing the unique historical, cultural and natural diversity of Oman, as well as the synergy between tradition and modernity, the natural world and the urban environment. Through the passion of Anas’ photography the tolerance, dignity and unlimited generosity that embodies the peoples of Oman and the stunning natural beauty of the country’s unique environment is brought to life.

Those Omanis present loved the photographs and agreed that they showcased the wonderful diversity of Oman and its people. The Society members found the images to be thought-provoking, and there was much discussion and reminiscing about particular scenes, activities and landscapes.
The exhibition ran for 10 days, with both AOS & New Generation Group members in attendance. Many of the guests were new to the Society and its mission, and the exhibition served to increase the visibility of Oman and membership of the NGG. The display succeeded in promoting Oman and changing the view of it as a predominantly desert country.
