'The Saluki in Middle Eastern Culture'

BOS

January 7 2020

Sir Terence Clark is a Vice-President of the British Omani Society and a former Ambassador to Iraq and Oman. During his time in the Middle East, he acquired his first Saluki and subsequently made a study of the extraordinary position it has occupied for millennia in the life of the region. His illustrated talk described the emergence of this hunting hound in ancient Mesopotamia and its spread from Morocco to China, where it features in art, literature   and sport until the present day.

The lecture was a fascinating insight into an extraordinary dog; inextricably entwined with the Middle East and its people. Sir Terence's talk was filled with amusing anecdotes and personal touches, standing testament to the depth of his knowledge and experience in the Middle East. A brilliantly engaging lecture to culminate 2019 - thank  you Sir Terence.
