On Thursday 10th November, The British Omani Society and New Generation Group hosted a special joint event with the Acting Director of the New National Museum of Oman, Mr Jamal Al Mossawi.

The talk looked to the Museum's vision, milestones, permanent galleries, collection highlights, learning and community outreach projects, as well as its investment into historic and scientific research. It was a fantastic opportunity for a mixed audience of Society members, NGG members, guests from the Embassy, Omani Students Societies and from Museums around London to learn more about the new Museum which unique to the region.​

​Mr Jamal al Moosawi is a graduate of the Edinburgh College of Art and holds a Masters Degree in Visual Communication and Cultural Studies. He was previously appointed as the Arts Project Manager Oman by the British Council in 2005 and was later promoted to the position of Regional Arts Projects Manager for the Middle East at the British Council and also held the position of a Museum Curator of the Modern Arab Art Museum of the Qatar Foundation in Doha. He was appointed Director of the National Museum in 2010 - effectively Project Director and oversaw the construction, fit-out, museography and administrative directions of the new Museum. Jamal was appointed Acting Director-General of the National Museum in 2015.
