Matt Foster is Business Development & Strategy Director for BAE Systems Land UK. In this role he is responsible for leading Business Development activities across BAE Systems Land UK and the developing the future Strategy of the business.
BAE Systems Land UK provides support to the UK Armed Forces, primarily The Army, to international customers and, due to the specialised nature of the business, to other defence and security primes. The capabilities of the business include Munitions manufacture and explosive filling, including associated research and development and test and evaluation. The business has two Joint Ventures: one with Rheinmetall, Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land Ltd based in Telford, UK; and the second, with Nexter, CTAI based in Bourges, France. Currently, the business has operations across a number of sites in the UK: Glascoed in South Wales, Radway Green in Cheshire and Washington, Tyne & Wear.
Matt joined BAE Systems in 2002 and spent eight years in the Saudi Arabian business, including three in Riyadh, before becoming Chief of Staff for the International Operating Group in May 2010. He was appointed General Manager - BAE Systems Oman in 2014, and was responsible for all BAE Systems operations within the Sultanate: providing support to customers across Land, Sea, Air and Cyber. Upon returning to the UK in 2017, Matt took up a two-year secondment as Executive Director – Strategy at the UK Defence Solutions Centre. The Centre is a partnership between the UK Defence Industry and the UK Government, to provide independent thinking to support future capability planning and alignment between the UK Armed Forces, International requirements and the capabilities of the UK Defence Industry.
Matt is married with three young daughters, and lives in South Wales.
