General Manager – Executive Team

The General Manager is the senior member of the Executive team. In this role you will manage and coordinate a UK and Oman team to plan, design and execute the forward strategy of the Society. You will have ownership of all elements of project pipeline management including prioritising workstreams, setting deadlines and ensuring connectivity between regional teams. You will be responsible for driving strategic communications initiatives, providing counsel to the Society’s partners and leading advocacy campaigns.

Principal responsibilities include:

· Supervise, develop and guide the AOS Executive team in line with the strategic objectives, including performance reviews and appraisals

· Supervision of all Society activities (including those of NGG and OBBC); programme of events, grant scheme, Arabic language school, educational scholarships etc

· Lead and supervise the Society’s communications programme including lectures, webinars, podcasts, reports, bulletins and the weekly press digest; and including also the Society’s annual Review (bringing in advertising and organising distribution)

· Conduct research and policy analysis by engaging with key stakeholders in Oman and the UK

· Own digital engagement and outreach across all platforms including the website and social media

· Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including UK/Oman government and industry partners

· First point-of-call for corporate and individual members

· Management of the Society property; contractors, suppliers, physical infrastructure and IT

· Preparation of materials for quarterly Board meetings and subsequent follow-up

· An ability to engage and build relationships with senior government and commercial figures

· 6+ years professional experience

· Bachelor's degree

· Fluency in English


· The Executive team consists of a General Manager, Programme Manager and up to three Management Assistants. The Executive team report to a Board of Directors (Trustees).
