Oman Outlook 2021: Domestic and Foreign Policy
One year on from the succession of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, three experienced Omani speakers will examine the domestic and foreign challenges facing his government in 2021. On the domestic front we will consider the new 2021 budget, Tawazun and Vision 2040, plus prospects for foreign investment. How will measures fare to enhance government performance, to protect the rights of citizens and to spare them from the impact of financial policies? How will devolution work? What part will parliament and the media play in making change happen? On foreign policy how is Oman likely to respond to developments in the region: GCC, Iran, Yemen, the new Biden administration, China, India, Israel? Can Oman maintain its neutral and mediatory role while financing the deficit and dealing with the domestic challenges? How will Oman perceive Brexit Britain?
