Invest in Oman Seminar

On the 22nd of October, representatives from the British Omani Society were invited to the London stock exchange to attend ‘Invest in Oman’, a seminar held by Ithraa and Hayat Capital.

The event aimed to showcase the opportunities for British business in Oman, emphasising the country’s prime location, safety and stability and a strong culture of corporate governance. As efforts increase to diversify Oman’s economy, industries such as mining, fisheries, infrastructure, real estate and tourism represent a growing market for investment outside of the Oil and Gas sectors which are the traditional targets for British businesses.

Particularly promoted were opportunities within the Special Economic Zone in Duqm, which represents the largest Special Economic Zone in the Middle East. With its prime location on the Indian Ocean, seaport and airport, the area’s accessibility were one of its biggest selling points.

Attendees to the seminar were addressed by RT Hon Alistair Burt, and the secretary-general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman His Excellency Sayyid Badr Bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, who both praised exiting business links but stressed the huge potential for greater investment.

Among those presenting at the event were spokespeople from Hayat Capital, PEIE, SEZAD, BP Oman, Brigg Macadam, HSBC Oman, the Muscat Securities Market, Memery Crystal and the London Stock Exchange.
