'Talk of The Season' with Sharifa Albarami

BOS

March 27 2018

On Tuesday the 27th of March 2018, in collaboration with the Cultural Attache Office and The Omani Students Society in London (OSSL), The British Omani Society was delighted to host Sharifa Albarami, an Omani businesswoman, entrepreneurship development consultant and mentor. Sharifa Albarami introduced the role of the Oman Technology Fund (OTF) which has a total committed capital of up to 150 million US dollars to invest in the related incubator, accelerator and global VC programs.

The Incubation Program provides entrepreneurs with an array of services to support and accelerate the development of their start-up company.

In addition to seed funding, the Acceleration Program allows for improved probabilities of a start up’s success, both by making investments into a company and by receiving support through experienced entrepreneurs that act as a mentor.

Finally, the Growth Program invests into the growth of global companies and forms the third form of funding offered through the Oman Tech Fund.

The event was attended by a mix of Omani students who are exploring ways to accelerate their projects into successful start-ups and officials from the Embassy of Oman in London. Everyone was given the opportunity to ask Sharifa questions following the talk.

It was very interesting to hear Sharifa who is an active ambassador for technology and entrepreneurship in Oman, promote the country as the innovation hub of the region and the Anglo—Omani Society would be happy to welcome her again for another insightful talk.
